What Great Friends!

Since I arrived home from Provo Monday and had to leave on Thursday for St. George to have surgery, that only left me two days to do all the weeding and getting the house ready before I'm an invalid. I worked in the garden all day (in the hot sun) on Tuesday. It was a killer but I wouldn't quit. My dear friend JoLynne Wimer, came over Tuesday and saw me working and felt guilty so on Wednesday morning at 6:00 A.M., I'm out working again and here comes JoLynne. She was going to sneak over and do the rest for me but I was already at work. She is such a sweetheart. She stayed for about 3 hours until it was done. Thank you so much for being so kind, dear friend!
After we finally got all the weeds out I covered it over with landscape fabric and pray it will deter lots of the weeds from coming.
This morning my Aunt Delma, from California and I cut the tops off our crop of onions and bagged them up for winter.
Now I have my year supply of onions. Wahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Birthday Weekend Part 3

Even though we went various places, we also stayed home and cleaned, organized and redecorated. This is our little kitchen in our condo. It's small but perfect for what we need there. I've found you don't really need that much room and it's just fine.
This is a partial shot of our living room. We really enjoy our condo. It's so close to BYU and the temple. It's only about 1 mile for Duane to get to work.
One of our new purchases was a new comforter for the bedroom and new curtains. Duane really likes the new look. He hated the old one. I'll have to admit I did too. I don't know what made me pick out the last one.






This is a 2nd bedroom. This is grandma's room when she comes. It's plenty comfortable for her. Thanks to grandma for helping clean so much this past weekend. We scrubbed everything including windows, inside and out, dusted, organized, threw away and cleaned the bathrooms. We even shampooed the patio carpet. Everything is in tip top shape now. My next visit I can really relax and enjoy it all.

Birthday Weekend-Part 2

When I was visiting Duane's office I looked out the window. This is his view from his office. Could anyone have a more beautiful view? I think this is Heaven on Earth.
A little later on Friday mom and I went furniture shopping with Heidi. She's been wanting some new couches and coffee and end tables for a long time. She decided that she wanted to look while she had us there to offer our opinions. She found this couch and love seat. She borrowed a pillow and took it home to see how it went in her house. It looked really nice so we went back and she bought them. They will be delivered June 23rd. She's very excited to get them.
Friday evening, we went to Macaroni Grill because I had a gift certificate which I've been carrying around for a year and a half. We decided to use it. It was a delicious dinner and we had a great time.
Saturday, Duane took us to Chef's Table which was a very fancy restaurant in Provo. Duane had received an award from BYU with a trophy and a gift certificate as well. We don't usually go to restaurants two nights in a row but Duane had been saving this for quite a while. We were served by several waiters and really treated like royalty. It was pouring rain while we were eating so that was kind of fun as well. Thanks Duane and family for making my birthday lots of fun. I had a lovely day!

My Fun Birthday Weekend

This past weekend was originally going to be a miserable weekend. I was scheduled to have knee surgery the 19th, but the doctor delayed it until June 26th. Because of the change I decided to go to Provo and have some fun. To start out our weekend, I took a lot of tomatoes from our garden to Provo and we decided to bottle them up there. We got 23 quarts of delicious tomatoes. I'm glad we decided to do them up there so I didn't have to come home to this job. It was fun and productive.

Next, on Friday morning I called some carpet cleaners and they cleaned our carpets in our condo. They really needed it.









Later that morning I went to Duane's office so I could make his daily rounds with him. Daily he goes to all the departments and greets everyone. This day he took bags of tomatoes, onions, and peppers to share with everyone. Doesn't Duane have a beautiful office?

Grandkids - Part 7

In the museum they had a nice section on Native Americans. It helped the boys understand that not everyone lives like we do.












It also had a large dinosaur section with all kinds of dinosaurs. I've never met a child who didn't love dinosaurs. They all seem to be fascinated with the creatures.
Outside of the museum was a large, beautiful park. You can see the fountains below and the beautiful lake in the background. What a beautiful day for playing in the park.
Gavin seemed to really enjoy the view. Sitting in a stroller gets tiring so he was taking in the view along with us. Isn't he so cute? Well, this concludes my week of fun with the family. I look forward to the next time I get to visit.

Grandkids - Part 6

On Saturday we decided to spend the morning at the Denver Children's Science Museum. Since we had to go to Denver for me to catch my plane it only made sense to use the morning doing something fun. Unfortunately, Tyler got sick so he and Heidi and Lexi had to stay home, but Garry, Zachary, Gavin and I got to have some fun at the museum. Zachary was wondering if he was going to be someone's dinner.
I got the chance to see what my hearing could be like if I had larger ears. It does help your hearing.
They had a lot of beautiful rocks and minerals displayed. Since we had just studied rocks and minerals in school this year and we had just gone to the mining museum the day before, it was fun to see more beautiful displays.









There were many, many displays of all kinds of animals. I took lots of pictures but I would bore you if I even showed you half of them so you only get one picture.

Grandkids - Part 5

We are still at the Mining Museum. The boys got to see some burrows which were there at the museum. It's always fun for them to see live animals.










On the property was a haunted mine. I saw some men working on it and asked them if we could go inside. They said they were in the middle of constructing it and we would need to be careful, but they allowed us to go inside. One of the men even gave us a tour. He kept reassuring the boys that things were just pretend and to not be afraid.

Grandkids - Part 4

On Friday we spent a good part of the day at the Western Mining and Industry Museum. It was a very fun place for the boys. Tyler dressed up in mining gear and modeled for us.
This place had all sorts of things for the boys to see and have hands on experiences. Zachary helped Gavin do some hammering. Gavin seemed to enjoy himself.










The boys got to try their hand at panning for gold and other minerals. They even got a lesson from one of the docents at the museum.

As you can see, Lexi is enjoying the ride with Heidi. Getting to see all of the machines, and the process of mining different rocks and minerals was very interesting to us all. The employees were really good to show us around and explain things to us.

Grandkids - Part 3

On Tuesday afternoon I took the boys to the library. I didn't take any pictures of that but they seemed to enjoy the library immensely. Wednesday I spent the morning cleaning Garry and Heidi's garage. Garry refinished a door and had to do a lot of sanding. The fine dust went everywhere in the garage and it was quite a mess so everything had to be wiped down and cleaned, especially the floor. After I did the garage I took the boys to an indoor pool. We had a good time swimming.






It had a big water slide and a whirlpool which went in a circle around the bottom of the slide.










It also had a big wave pool. That was pretty fun. Zachary informed me that he needed to practice surfing because they may go to California next year and he needs to be ready for the ocean experience.
Swimming with the boys is lots of fun for me. I think I have almost as much fun as they do. They are my buddies.

Grandkids - Part 2

On Tuesday, June 9th, we went with a bunch of Heidi's friends and their children to Ute Park. We went on a 4 mile hike in the Canyon. It was a very beautiful hike. All the moms and children had lots of fun. Heidi says she wants to repeat the experience again. It was another very cool day but by the time I finished I was sweating a bit. It was good exercise for me.
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday either Zachary or Tyler had games. We spent these 4 nights at the park enjoying the cool evening and the great entertainment which these cute boys and their teammates provided. Watching 6 year olds play is so cute. What fun!
Garry is Zachary's coach. I enjoyed watching Garry coach almost as much as watching the boys. He did a great job with the boys. He's very kind and patient with them. He built their confidence and helped them have a good experience.
I'm ending part 2 with a picture of my four cute grandchildren. Each one has a special spot in my heart. I love each one so much. What great kids!
